Corrado is the Italian form, according to Nameberry - perhaps this might be an alternative? I like Cord as well, which is a diminutive, apparently. Also, this might be a bit too far, but Conrad could go my nickname Rad (which, just by the way, is very sweet), as could any of the names below, so that could reference back to it:

    Arad
    Bradley
    Brad
    Brady
    Bradburn
    Bradshaw
    Colorado
    Cradog
    Graden
    Grady
Jared (at a stretch - all the letters are there!)
Radcliff/Radcliffe (I like this one for you guys)
    Radford
    Radley

Or you could try to find a name with the same meaning as Conrad to honour the name instead? There are lots of options - just keep on looking, and you'll get there! Good luck.

    What about:

    Conall
    Conan
    Conleth
    Conley
    Connery
    Connor
    Conroy
    Constantine
    Conway
    Deacon
    Falcon

Bit of a stretch but: Lincoln.

    Bradford
    Bradley
    Bradshaw
    Gradimir
    Grady
    Radcliffe
    Radford
    Trader

You could have a Con first name and a Rad middle name to honor a Conrad.

If you guys don't like any of the name combinations explain to him why you feel the you do. He'll surely understand.
    Radley

I agree about using Conrad as a middle name. Maybe if you agree on that fact it will take some of the stress off picking the first name, since Conrad would be off the table completely?

I love Conrad! But, you don't, so putting it in the middle is a great option. Based on both name lists, how about:

    Bennett
    Spencer
    Declan
    Cormac
    Callan
    Morgan
    Nathan
    Cordell
