I have a cousin Jericho who went by Jake for a long time. I wouldn't like to use Jerry either, lol!

I know a girl named Margaux and her mother was completely French. Her appearance definitely showed her French roots and this particular spelling suited her much better than Margo or Margot. Plus, I can't get over the spelling of Margot - the second syllable always trips me up and I always feel like I need to say Mar-GOT.

Ooh, I love borderline hippie-names! The suggestions of Zen & Pax are beyond wonderful : ) Here are what my mother would consider "hippie":

    Aero
    Atlantis
    Elula
    Ever
    Ives
    South
    Zeila

And here are 'works of nature' synonyms:

    Monsoon
    Aura
    Ocean
    Mistral
    Blaze
    Chinook
    Lux
    Zephyr

I love Andromeda but it doesn't strike me as hippie-ish. I like names with a celestial connections like Mira and Nova. I can't get over the "o" ending in Indigo--I love the name but only for a boy (my husband would love to use it on a boy)

I don't hear others suggest Denali much, that could be a very unisex outdoorsey name.
