I agree that it depends on how often they will see each other and that with such a popular name, it won't be a big deal. My mother's family has 2 Andrews, 2 Marks, 2 Lukes, 2 Meghans, 2 Emmas, 2 Annes, 2 Peters, 3 Daniels, and 7 James (all go by Jim), along with several Mary variations, and everyone can tell each other apart, though many of the repeats live in different states from each other. On my dad's side, there's Joseph, Joseph, and Josephine, everyone lives in town, and there's still not as much confusion as you'd think.
