When, if ever is it safe to highlight hair while ttc or pregnant

We're starting ttc this month and I am due to ovulate around Friday. I usually get my hair highlighted every 8-10 weeks. It's been about 6 weeks since I last had it done, but I was wondering whether I should book in for this week, in case we get pregnant (and I have to wait for ages before getting them done again) Is it at all harmful to get highlights while pregnant?

Its not harmful at all to get your hair dyed while pregnant or ttc. The chemicals that were harmful in the past are no longer in hair dyes or lighteners. Just stay well ventilated and enjoy.

Both my OB and my perinatal specialist - as well as my hairstylist who is also currently preggo - all said its fine and don't worry about it. Especially highlights because so little even touches your scalp. I waited til the end of my first trimester just because I'm a chicken and I needed all-over color plus highlights, but it's really not necessary. It's important that you feel good about yourself too so go for it!

I don't think it's harmful. Perhaps avoid as much as possible during the first trimester just to be on the safe side, but it's extremely unlikely you'll experience any side effects.
