    Ouch! My tailbone?!?

    Hey Berries,

So I've had a really fun new pregnancy-thing develop over the last week or so - at least, I'm assuming it's pregnancy related since I can't think of any other cause. And I'm just wondering if anyone else had or is having the same experience. My tailbone has started throbbing. I haven't fallen or in any way injured it so the only thing I can think of is that it's baby-related. But I'm also only 22 weeks along... and I guess I didn't really think baby was down low enough already to cause that kind of pain at this point? I know my sister-in-law's tailbone was actually broken by the baby during delivery (she had a too-short and too-fast delivery that caused a couple of issues) but I really can't figure out why it would be hurting so much now. I've actually had to start waddling and it's kinda making me feel like a really fat penguin... and I'm not THAT big yet!

Anyway, just always nice to hear from someone else who's been there done that. Thanks!

That seems to be happening to me too! It's like I fell on my tailbone while ice skating. It's not throbbing, really, but it hurts particularly when I get up after sitting for a while. I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow. I don't know, maybe it is baby related?

Oooh, I'm so glad you replied annied, I've been so confused about what the heck is going on! Good to hear it's not just me. I keep asking my husband if he kicked me in the tailbone while I was asleep because I don't remember falling down the stairs. Very weird! And my biggest concern is, if it's hurting this much at Week 22, what the heck is it going to feel like at Week 32??

I had this, only for a week or two late second trimester...a heating pad on low helped a bunch and I think it most have been the way she was positioned was putting pressure there. Later on I had awful hip pain, but tailbone was much better.

    Hope you feel better soon!

It could also be from the relaxin and your moving pelvis. I didn't specifically have tailbone pain, but had pubic bone pain and hip pain around that time. All your bones down there are shifting around, it's likely to be sore at times
