After months of deliberation - the 2 girl names that we love are Anjali and Annaya. They are easy to pronounce and very pretty - sometimes Indian names sound so ugly said with the western sounds.

Some of the ones we had been mulling over were -

    Chandrani
    Chandra
    Indra
    Indrani
    Nandita
    Nalini
    Chitralekha
    Sudeshna
    Isha
    Anya
    Ananya
    Anouska
My cousin has two daughters named Anjali and Annaya - they're pretty popular amongst Indian-Americans. And I don't know if this bothers you, but Indra and Chandra are strongly male. Indira/Indrani or Chandani are the female versions, which I see on your list

If you're using Kalyani, you could use Kali as a nn.

Good point, even cute IMO would be Kalu. I love short girl names ending with U.

Well , in one of the earlier posts you mentioned you liked the name "ashwin " ; so why not " Ashwini" that is the female version of ashwin.

Another suggestion , coz your middle name is Sofia ( I believe it means princess , though sorry if i got it wrong) you can go with Karissa ( means favourite) or Karisma ( thts a punjabi name, I guess).

One more name I love is Rijul ( means innocence) .

P.S: Yes , it is very difficult to make your hubby agree , when it comes to naming a child, even though we may be from same background .. so keep tying !!

Friends of ours named their babies Aryan and Kalyaani.
My favourite Indian name is simply Indira.
