    Impressions of Ned (nickname)

    Hello All,
We are trying to settle on a boy name and are wondering your impressions of the name Ned as a nickname. We do not personally know any Neds but think of few connections through TV and books. But we want to know what it makes others think of....thank you!

Uh, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide was on TV when I was a kid. That's the only thing I can think of, but it's pretty irrelevant now.

I don't know. Edward is one of my favorite names, so naturally I've thought about nicknames. Ned just doesn't stick with me for some reason. I prefer Ed or Eddie.

I like it as a nn for Edward, too. There are good and not-so-good pop-culture associations. I think of Ned the pie-maker from Pushing Daisies (yay!), but my brother would probably think of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. I don't think it matters, personally. e

I love Ned! I think it would work as a given name as well.
