Ivo Nicholas (EYE-vo) When I think of Ivo, I think of the villain from Sonic games, Dr Ivo Eggman Robotnik. His peers might end up thinking the same.
Toussaint James (pronounced like Tucson) I think it sounds nice, but with a spelling so different from the pronunciation, he may have a tough time.
    Reed Nicholas Solid name
Aubyn James (family name) I really like this one
Cabot James I think of cheese when I think of Cabot
Asa Nicholas I can't get away of thinking of names ending in "a" as being girl names
Barnaby James Barnaby seems a bit intimidating to me for some reason
Theodore James "Teddy" A bit mundane compared to your other choices
    Atticus John A pleasant combination
Bertram John Not fond of the potential "Bert" or "Tram" as nn
Tristram James One of my favs
Zevon James (rhymes with Devon) Interesting combination. Maybe too bold?
Finch Nicholas Not sure about naming a boy after a delicate song bird
Tennyson James "Ten" or "Tenny" Cute
Thackeray John (rhymes with Zachary) Interesting, not sure what sort of nn are going to come up. Might be hard for him to have one at all
Jolyon Nicholas (JOLE-ion) I like this one a lot
Ambrose John Feeling neutral on this one
Peregrine James (We might use Pip as a nn even though it's a bit too LOTRish...but it is actually from Angela Carter's last novel, Wise Children, my dh's favorite) Sounds fanciful, but with a cute nn; I like it
Orlando James "Orly" This comes off *more* LOTRish to me, as I think of Orlando Bloom
Worthy James (family name) Personally not fond of adjectives as first names
    Tarquin James Neutral
Copeland James (family name) A little meh, but I understand honoring family
    Pryor James Not too keen
Tavish John Kind of a fun name
Fenwick James "Fen" (family name) I think it sounds rather dashing
Hawthorne/Hawthorn James (I like it without the E, dh likes it with) I like it, and with the e
Macabee James (family name)Makes me think of macabre
Banyan James Makes me think of bunion
    Wyeth James Interesting
Sparrow John Not fond of little birds as boy names
Rushdie James In a rush to die? It doesn't sit well with me

Hope that helps you narrow it a bit, and hope I didn't come off too tersely!

I think the problem I have with most of these names is that they sound better with John or James in the first name spot. Here are my favorites as is:

    Barnaby James
    Theodore James
    Ambrose John
    Peregrine James
    Copeland James
    Macabee James
    Emily, 19, Southeastern US.
College student, name nerd, and generally geeky.
