    What could lead to Dido?

I really like the name Dido (even if her story is a bit tragic!) but I think the association with the singer and the fact it's one letter away from something a bit rude make it a bit unfair to use.

I was just musing on whether there's a name it would work as a nickname for... Any ideas?

I think most Di- names could get you there.
    Depending on your style:
    Dianna
    Diantha
    Candide/Candida

I was thinking Diana. I disagree a bit with the previous poster, though -- I wouldn't name a little girl Candida. Candida is a fungus that causes infections in women. Google it if you want. :P

I think the association with the singer is very strong, so many people might ask if you're a huge fan. Diana is quite used and dated. Dione, Didona, and Dirce are nymphs in greek myth.
