Or choose an international variant of Margaret? http://http://nameberry.com/list/62/...nal-Variations

I understand [I think] how you feel as I am Josie which is already quite short too have a nn. Something I am trying to do is introduce a nn that isn't related to my name but related to me and my personality. Maybe you could try that? Good Luck

I like Mary x combos. I have a cousin who goes by Mary Pat and a friend who is Mary Fran. It is a little tough to do that with Noreen but I do like Mary Nora.
I like simple yet versatile names that work well for the athlete, the comic, the genius, and the judge.

What about Marnie for Mary Noreen? Maybe Marty or Emmy?

Out of the ones suggested, I really like "Ree". It is in Mary, and also in Noreen. It's not too usual, but not *too* out-there either.

Mary is one of those truly perfect names. I can't imagine diluting it with a nickname. I would encourage you to embrace the perfection of Mary. If I were to have another little girl, Mary would be one of my top contenders.
