    Getting to Annie

    Hello berries!

My husband loves the nickname Annie, but we want a full name that's more formal and grown-up. We like Annika, but aren't completely in love (thought we were, but having a bit of cold feet).

Here's what I've thought of so far (I know some are a bit of a stretch):

    Anastasia
    Anita
    Annalie
    Annaliese
    Anne
    Annette
    Annika
    Annora
    Antonia
    Anwen
    Cassandra
    Diana
    Liliana
    Miranda
    Susanna
    Viviana

    So, three questions for you!

    (1) What do you think of Annika?

    (2) What other names can you think of that would allow for the nickname Annie?
(Note: I intentionally left out anything that rhymes with bell, such as Annabelle, because it would rhyme with our last name; eep!)

    (3) We like Anastasia; is it too much?? Would you use it?

I was going to suggest Anastasia, actually! I love that name and would totally use it. Not a huge fan of Annika personally. I also love Annabelle and Annabeth. Angela and Annalie are pretty too.

I like Annika, but i pronounce it as ON-ika because that's how the only Annika i know pronounces it.

I don't mind Anastasia, but to a lot of people its a reference to the Shades of Gray books, which i believe are being made into movies, so there's a reference to be aware of.

You could also add Andrea to the list
I hope to be a mom one day. For now I enjoy being a name lover.

My apologies for any typos; i post from my mobile phone.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

I think our main trouble with Anastasia is that the middle name would be Vivian (a family name we want to incorporate). Anastasia Vivian seems a bit much to us (soooo long and flowery/feminine). What do you think?

Maybe a variety of Anastasia or Vivian to calm things down a bit?

OH. MY. I did not know Anastasia was a Shades of Gray name! I would not want that association! Thank you for alerting me.
