Merit Vs Meret
Meret was on the blog today and I have it on my list as well. I like them both for different reasons and I can't decide which one I like better. First, how different is the pronunciation to you? I pronounce Merit like Mare-it, and Meret like Muh-ret (kinda like barrette)
Merit: I like the virtue connection, I like the Mer- sound because it reminds me of the ocean, I like the Egyptian history, more straightforward pronunciation. It does sound a little blunt or harsh sometimes though.
Meret: a little more "name-y," also has the Egyptian history, love the multicultural feel it has. I do worry it will be mispronounced, and I feel like it doesn't match as well with Rowan.
So what are your thoughts? Which one do you like more, and why?
** also I just thought of a kinda cute connection with Merit and my best friend's newborn son Sterling. Sterling and Merit both make me think of good morals, a kind heart, good triumphing over evil, etc. Kinda cool, right? My cherished daughter, Rowan Jane. ~b. 10/2011~

I'd say Merit as 'MEH-rit' and Meret as 'meh-RET'. I much prefer the sound of Merit.~Boys~
