It's always been an iffy name for me. I want to like it but it's so harsh and abrupt. It makes a great nn though

It never hurt film cowboy John "Duke" Wayne so I don't get all of the hate. It's a strong nickname but I wouldn't use it for a first name.
    All the best,
    Mischa.

Meh I dislike it too. My first association was with it being a title but yes, it is a bit of dog name. Perhaps the pronunciation would change you view of it? It's pronounced DYOUK (like juke) over here, rather than DOOK

Aw, I actually don't mind the name at all. Though I probably wouldn't use it I wouldn't mind hearing it on someone else. Like Giuliana and Bill's baby .
