Annabel Lee is an Edgar Allan Poe name, my favorite poem but maybe too distracting of a reference to use.
Unisex and surnames are a solid southern tradition. Sloane, Jones, Madison, Vaughn,... French names give a bayou feel, Annette, Simone, Marie...
I prefer a strong one syllable middle for Annabel.

Elizabeth, Augusta, Diane, Virginia, Helen, Frances, Charlotte, Dorothy, Caroline

Lots of religious middles down here such as Rebecca, Susannah, Mary, Abigail, Leah, Joanna, Lydia, Ruth for example.

Surnames for middles are also common - things like Taylor, Scott, Carter, Campbell, Parker, Collins, Ellis, Sutton, etc.
