Thread: Introducing Madelief!
October 11th, 2013 12:14 PM #1
Madelief Helene was born yesterday at 9:15 p.m. after what I think was the world's shortest labor. I barely got to the birth center in time for the catch. I was hoping for a waterbirth this time around like I had with my last, but there wasn't time to even fill the tub! She weighed 8lbs and 10oz (at 42 weeks, I was afraid I'd have to push out a 10 pounder!)
We deliberated hotly up to the very last minute, and in the end went with a first name that we'd passed over earlier because neither of the two names we were fighting over (Evelien and Margreet) seemed to fit. They seemed too dainty somehow, and this baby is big and vivacious already!
Madelief is a Dutch form of Madeliefje (the common name for Daisy) and Helene is a form of my great-grandmother's name, Elaina.
Madelief joins siblings Leiden, Saskia, and Aleydis.
Thanks for all the naming help!Devinmom toLeiden Dominic (7)Saskia Rosemary (6)Aleydis Josephine (4)
