    Naming a pivotal character

This character is one of the main character, Sasha's, boyfriend. This is a mystery novel. Sasha is the funny, obliviously pretty one who writes poetry and needs to figure out the truth. Her boyfriend is the tougher, kind of distant boy who has his own past and his own issues. He smokes and has issues with his father, the norm. His mother is no longer in the picture. He's the kind of kid with guts, and eventually runs away from home. I've been throwing around names like Noah, Max, Rhyse and the like, but I'd love some input. Thanks!
By the way, I can't use the names Leo, Parker, Ash, Griffin, Mason, or Nate since other characters have those names.

Rhys doesn't have an e, but it's a great name. I immediately thought of Dean (sounds like the type James Dean used to play).

I like names for this character with at least one hard consonant.
That being said from your list I like
    Rhyse
(on a child I would hate that spelling: on a character it adds something (also explains something about the parents)
    Good Luck!

    I think of:

Dean (like James Dean or Dean Winchester from Supernatural)
Holden (like Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye)
    Wilde (obvious, just Wilde)

    Nature Names:

    Archer
    Forest
    Fox
    Hunter
