    Opinions on Ana

    Hi,
I'm in two minds about Ana, I love Anna, but Im just not sure about Ana. Do you pronounce it the same as Anna or are-nah?
I want to like it but I'm just not sure.
    What do you think?
    Thanks,
    Ellie xx

I generally pronounce Ana as AH-na as opposed to Anna, with its long A.
Ana is okay, but seems insubstantial as a full name and would suggest it as a nickname for something.

I was shocked the first time I heard there was even another pn of Anna/Ana.
I think it's an American thing - they say both 'ae-nah' and 'arrr-nah' (just realised you have to say both on these in an English accent for them to make sense in an American accent. Oh dear. Ignore me), whereas in the UK we just use one single short-A sound 'ah-nah'.

I like Anna/Ana a lot. They seem incredibly dull to me though, as pretty as they are. The only Ana I know is really an Anaheed.

I've noticed most Ana's pronounce it (Ah-nuh), while Anna's use the (Ann-uh) pronunciation.

    I like Anna. It's a classic.
To me, Ana, pronounced Ah-na, is often mistakenly pronounced like Anna.
My husband's name is Schuyler, and everyone calls him Shoo-ler, and he hates it because he constantly is correcting people.
I think someone named Ana would find themselves in a similar situation.
