    Getting to 'Cal'

    My husband and I both like the nickname Cal but we need some help on ways to get there. I really don't like anything about Calvin so we are looking for other alternatives. (I have this same issue with loving Dex and hating Dexter). Any ideas are appreciated. My favorite is Callahan but I think Callahan might be too much name for a little boy. We are toying with Michael Callahan Crummings and calling him Cal. Michael for my husband's late father and our last name is spelled without the R. So I guess my questions are

    1. What is your favorite name for the nickname Cal?
    2. Do you like Callahan? Is it too much name for a little boy?
    Mama to Daphne Lane

    Girls: Celia, Willa, Mabel, Mae, Maeve, Gwyneth/Gwendolyn (Gwen), Vivienne (Vivi), Audrey, Annabel, Adair, Liv, Grace, Thea, Eloise, Maggie, Rosalie (Rosie), Zara, Sloane, Aria, Middles: Reverie, Bellamy, Mirabel, Winter

    Boys: Griffin, Grant, Ford, Rafferty, Zane, Boyd, Bry, Harrison, Gavin, Layton, Warren, Lane, Hayes, Wilder, Holden

    1. I love the name Callum with the nickname Cal.
    2. I don't like Callahan. It is too much of a name for a little boy. It is a last name. I think of Noah Callahan from The Notebook... which isn't a bad association at all...

    I love Callahan, but I myself may use Halloran, which rules Callahan out. I don't think it's too much for a little boy.

    Calum would be my favourite!

    More options
    * Caleb
    * Calvin
    * Carl
    * Calm
    * Calder
    * Conall

    I think Callahan is nice if a little heavy / surnamey. If I met a Callahan I would assume he came from a welthy Irish American family and it was his great-grandmothers maiden name or something
    Arabella, Thibault, Sophia, Alfred, Eleanor, Rémi, Charlotte, Achille, Olivia, Clement, Elizabeth, Frederick, Maud, Benedict, Adèle.
