Thread: Safe Names

I think of them as "compromise" names (they are also family names so I love the connections I have to the names if not the names themselves). They are names I like but ae not my favorites:
Girls - Sara, Rose, Mary, Lisa, Anna, Susanna, Josephine. Martha
Boys - Daniel, Joseph, Peter, Patrick, Timothy, JamesI like simple yet versatile names that work well for the athlete, the comic, the genius, and the judge.

No, I don't have "safe names". I have "names I like" (a very long list!) and "names I like that we would actually use". I'm a pretty realistic namer, I guess. I don't feel that strong desire to use every name that I love. Just because I like it doesn't mean it would suit our child. We give our children names with history and significance, that tie them to their family, heritage, and faith. We also try to pick names we think they will like and will grow with them. Many (most?) of the names on my long list don't necessarily fit all the criteria.
