Thread: Safe Names
July 6th, 2013 11:12 PM #1
So I am just wondering if anyone else does this. I have names I love and want to use, then I have "Safe" names. You know, those names you like enough, but wouldn't be your first choice, only if-all-else-goes wrong! For me, these are the names I have always liked, never grown tired of per say, but never moved into a top 10, or into any place they would be actually used on a child from a planning perspective! It almost feels like a name that orbits my favorites, without becoming a favorite.
Does anyone else have these so called "Safe" names? What are they?
(For example, one of mine is Autumn, I love the sound, I love the imagery, but I probably would never use it on a child unless my top 10 just do not fit!)

Yes! I actually recently brought out several of my "safe names" when my SO vetoed ALL of favorites :/ However, he always vetoed 90% of my safe names, so I guess it's back to the drawing board.
Ladies - Emma, Charlotte, Felicity, Sierra, and Clara
Gents - Theodore, Charles, Samuel, and Riley
What are yours?

My girl's safe name would definitely would have to be Margaret. My SO is in love with this name. I like it a lot, but I definitely love other names way more.
My boy's safe name is Kenneth. It runs strong in my family, and it's also a very nice name. I have always wanted to use it, but as with Margaret, there's other names I love more.Girls:

Although I often prefer too weird over too boring, I do have a few favorite classics since they're not too overused. Here are a few that stand out for me:
