Archibald – I prefer Archer as a full name for Archie, but this is quite cool.
Burton – NMS, but Tim Burton gives the name a chance at stardom.
Seymour – As a video gamer, all I see is Seymour Guado from Final Fantasy X. He was one of the main villains with a typical JRPG hairstyle and horrible voice acting. So not for me.
Stanley – I like Stan, but not Stanley.

Beaulah – I pronounced this as Bway-luh, but I'm pretty sure it's like Bo-luh or Boo-luh, and I despise those spellings.
Doris – Not brave enough to use...
    Edna – See Doris
    Ethel – Pretty
Eunice – I prefer Eudora, but Eunice has caught my eye lately.
Gertrude – Too harsh for me, although True/Rue is a modern nickname.
    Helga – Prefer Hedwig.
Hortense – I have a soft spot for Ortensia, but Hortense is...
Irma – ERMAGERD! (Go onto Google Images and search)
    Joyce – Prefer Joy
    Phyllis – Prefer Philippa
Shirley – NMS, but I can see it coming back.

Here are some of my favorites that are so far, they're in:

    Marcella
    Cordelia/Cornelia
    Mavis
    Mabel
    Amabel
    Louise/Louisa
    Minerva
    Cecily

I love Stanley! Shirley, Ethel and Joyce are pretty as well. Shirley and Stanley are the only ones I'd consider for myself.
Sean Michael | Sullivan John | Jameson Louis

Fiona Kathleen | Mary Elisabeth | Brigid Rose

Archibald – full name of the now popular Archie
Burton – Hollywood actor name revisited or a nod to a surf company
Seymour – noble last name that’s ready to be dusted off
Stanley – another noble last name that has great nickname possibilities

Beaulah – secretly always loved this name
Doris – Hollywood namesake ready for a comeback
Edna – along the Ada resurgence and great nickname Edie
    Ethel – retro classic
    EuniceKennedy-esque
Gertrude – Shakespearean and Gerty is a great nickname
    Helga – why not?
Hortense – could only go up from here
Irma – Irmy is a possible cute nickname
Joyce – a nod to a Joy in the family
Phyllis – now even used in soap operas
    Shirley – another Hollywood classic

I’m the sort of person that thinks even Chablis could be workable. What other names off such forbidden lists could be diamonds in the rough? Your reasons why would be greatly appreciated.
Sure they could be used, but most aren't appealing to me. To each is own. I do like some older names like Matilda, Rose, Grace, Hope, Joseph, William. I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

That list you posted are definitely usable, but they aren't really appealing to most.

I do agree with this list, however.
