The one I knew at school was an unaccented Leoni (lee-OH-nee).

Lee-oh-nee. My best friend's mum is named Leonie. She is one of two Leonie's I know and both pronounce it the same way.

I prefer Leonie said the French way, lay-oh-nee, but if I just saw Leonie, with no accent, I would assume lee-oh-nee. It's sad to say, but I don't have much faith in America's ability to pronounce French names, hahaha. If Leonie was on my list, though, I'd say lay-oh-nee, and if I saw it with the accent, Léonie, I would assume it was lay-oh-nee.

When I seriously considered adding it to my list, I really like Léonie Evangeline and Léonie Evangeline Claire. I think something like Léonie Estelle or Léonie Stella would be lovely, or even Léonie Hélène.

    Good luck!
