    Carly as nn for Charlotte

If we end up having a girl someday, my husband LOVES the name Charlotte. I love it too, I think it's a beautiful name...but I cannot get past the popularity! I get twitchy if I look at names in the top 100, and Charlotte is probably going to hit top 10 soon.

However, I do love the name Carly. I think it's such a sweet and spunky name for a little girl. Could Carly work as a nickname for Charlotte. Is it stretching too far?

Well, it's normally Charlie from Charlotte and Carly from Caroline, but there's nothing wrong with getting Carly from Charlotte, you're just effectively dropping the H in nn Charlie to get nn Carly. A bit unorthodox but not completely out there, definitely workable IMO.

babynamewizard.com lists Cara as an established nickname for Charlotte and I think if Cara works, why not Carly? I love Carly, I say go for it.

I think Charlotte NN Carly works just fine! It is so much more feminine than the typical Charlie. They are bot female variations of Charles so I think it makes a lovely choice
