If it was me, I might hesitate to use it as a first name, but I would have no problem at all using it in the middle. For that matter, I would also use Norman in the middle to honor a family member, no matter how well/poorly it flows with the last name. Since the name North is so special to you, I would not change your plans to use it!
Mom to Alexander Patrick (11), Madelyn Esther (8), Genevieve Susan (3), and Theodore James (stillborn at 37 weeks on February 3, 2014). Expecting #5 (a girl!) in May 2015.

Boys: Everett, Sebastian, Augustus, Samuel, Abraham, Elias, Julian, Silas, Nicholas, Desmond, Jasper, Ezekiel
Girls: Bridget, Felicity, Elizabeth, Penelope, Leona, Ophelia, Elodie, Elysia, Callista, Miriam, Isabelle, Delilah

    Vote on my long list!

North as a middle name is perfectly fine : ) I'd still use it, especially since you have such good reason to.

Sorry to anyone who read TSI. First draft was terrible. Second drafting now.

Definitely! It's just a middle name. If it were a first, this would be a different discussion and I would urge you against it. Unfortunately, I named my son Mason (family homage as well) a couple years before that other Kardashian sparked a Mason virus. Now my Mason says he's going to create an army of Masons, speaking of evil dictators.

I didn't even have to read past the title. Yes. Use the name you love. Celebrities do not own/"ruin" names. Middle name, first name - use North wherever you want. It's a great name and obviously a pair of celebrities agree (even though the situation they used it in was not so great).

Alexander Owen ~ Patrick Thomas ~ Jeremy Shea ~ Nolan Jack ~ Conor Arlo ~ Evan Daniel ~ Samuel Mark
    Nora ~ Claire ~ Stella ~ Maura ~ Madeleine ~ Violet ~ Victoria ~ Ava ~ Gabrielle ~ Leah ~ Soleil

I'm not a big fan of Kanye or the Kardashians, just for the record.
You'll probably get a lot of "As in North West?" But as long as you don't mind explaining a few (Many) times, I would go for it. Plus, after the birth announcements go out, the only time people will use/hear his middle name will be when he's in trouble, and at graduation. And most people probably won't choose those moments to question his name.

    Hope this was helpful...
