I say it kind of two ways; o-TEE-lee-uh (my mum says it like this) or o-TIL-ee-uh (my dad says it like this). I don't mind o-tee-LEE either as that's how my nursery teachers said it, so I've got fond memories...

I've always said oo-till-ee (long o sound), emphasis on till!

I'm German American, and Ottilie is a German Saint's name, pronounced "Oh-teel-ya," so it never seems right when it's pronounced OTT-uh-lee as some people seem to do...but I guess that is also an accepted pronunciation now...

Thank you, that's all really helpful. I prefer the original pronunciation I think but in the UK an 'ie' ending is pronounced 'ee', so I imagine we'd be constantly correcting people unless we altered the ending, but I prefer the 'ie' spelling!
