    Benjamin or Benedict?

I've always loved Benjamin for timeless quality, historical connections, and the nickname Ben. However, Benedict has been growing on me due to its Catholic references and the actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Benedict Arnold isn't the best, but the reference doesn't bug me that much.

Yikes. Benjamin is incredibly meaningful to me and I absolutely love the name, so I couldn't bring myself to choose Benedict over Benjamin. I really like Benedict too though (also a Cumberbatch fan).

Benjamin's a family name for me, so I naturally love it. My only association with Benedict (not being Catholic) is Benedict Arnold. So I personally would never use it...

I adore Benedict. I see it as a fresher way to get to Ben/Benny. And the name is versatile, with plenty of associations beyond the traitor.
