I agree that the names are very different in feel and not too similar for cousins. For brothers, yes, but cousins, even close ones, no. If it doesn't bother your brother and sister in law at all, I see no reason not to use Caspian. It is an absolutely gorgeous name, one of my favorites.Noora

Personally, I would advise choosing the name you love the most, regardless of similarity. I have a large family and if I tried to avoid any similarities at all, I'd be a madwoman. I have a son named Zephan, who gets called "Zephy" by one of the little cousins. Guess what? Of my two married sisters, one wants to use Zebulon next, and the other has Sophie shortlisted. It bugs me a little, yeah, but I wouldn't want to take names they love away from them just because they are similar to my kid's name. You don't know what will happen in the future. Someone else in your family might choose a name that's even more similar, say, Jasper - Caspar and Jasper - and then would you feel badly that you never got to have Caspian? The only reason I can see NOT to use it is if YOU think it's too close and it will drive you crazy forever. People in general aren't going to think that cousins with similar names are too silly. Actually, it seems pretty common to see similar names running in families -- maybe good taste is genetic!
Incidentally, I have a Caspian, too. Very handsome. Very suave. He gets tons of compliments.
