I love how fresh, young and fun it sounds. However where I'm from, it's not thought of as a full name and its not heard of around here.
    But I like British/Australian names!
Persephone is my favourite, but I don't love it. Also I think Percy and Sephy are more common nicknames and I'm not as fond of those.

I agree with what has been said above. Any P name can have the nickname Poppy. I also think that a lot of M names can have the nickname Poppy. I mean, if Polly and Peggy can come from Mary and Margaret, why not Poppy?

I love the idea of Josephine nn Poppy or Penelope nn Poppy, personally. I do like Poppy all on its own, though, even though its a bit cutesy.

Most "P" names would work, frankly. Then there's the Ancient Roman Poppaea/Poppea, if you want something really straight-forward.

    More ideas:
    Perpetua
    Parthenope
    Proserpine
    Pauline
Bertrand -bertie-, Wilfred, Léon, Axel, Cuthbert -cubby-, Maxentius, Aubrey, Phoebus, John-Henry.
Émilienne, Livia, Annabella -abbey-, Maud, Rosamund, Kimborough, Clemency, Elizabeth-Charlotte.

Straying from p names, I think it works for Calliope as well.
