Emmanuelle has a very different feel than the other -elle names while still fitting in.

I think Emmanuelle is a refreshing, unexpected and original take on the popular elle/el names and also the "em" names like Emily, Emma and Amelia/Emilia.

I think Emmanuelle is different enough from the other 'elle/ella' names, but a shortened form would lead to the ever-popular Em/Emma. At least with Annabelle, there is the option for the slightly less popular Anna or even less popular Annie. That would be my hesitation--that it kind of combines two popular trends. But when I first hear the name, I don't think about that.

I think it's also different because it's a feminized version of the masculine name Emanuel (Emmanuel?).
