I love Evgeniy! Total GP, but it's so cool. I love the idea of Alexander nn Alexei, Lev, Konstantin, Pavel, Michael "Mischa", and Alexander "Sasha". And Ilya! I totally adore Ilya. I know someone in the UK who knows a little boy named Ilya Benjamin--I thought that was such a handsome combo for a little boy.
What about using a more classic name, with a more Russian nickname? Like:
Elijah "Ilya" (Love this so much; I nearly added it to my own list!)
Nicholas "Klaus/Nikolai" (okay, so Klaus is more German, but you get the idea.)
I remember reading a novel once about a girl named Ekaterina who visited her homeland of Russia, and fell in love with a Russian policeman named Vadeem. I thought Vadeem was pretty cool after that. Although I think Vadim is the traditional spelling--they might have just spelled it Vadeem to get it pronounced how they want...Ashley | namenerd | Christian | storyteller

In 2011, the top 10 boy names in Russia were:
Daniil -- Similar to Daniel.
Maksim -- You could call him Max, recognizable due to Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Artyom -- Perhaps.
Ivan -- Definitely.
Aleksandr -- Would get misspelled but not bad.
Kirill -- Maybe no.
Dmitriy -- Perfectly usable.
Nikita -- Probably not in the US.
Andrey -- Usable in the US.
Mikhail -- Perfectly usable in the US and obviously not uncommon in Russia, either.
There's also Denis. It's not Russian per say but I've known a few Russian men with the name.** The opinions expressed above are not meant to be reflective of Nameberry as a whole but are my opinion and mine alone. **
Henry Nathaniel (3) and Julia Paige (1)
Bennett - Emmett - Felix - Oliver - Owen - Preston - Samuel
Abigail - Claire - Clara - Hope - Lydia - Maude - Molly
