    Lightbulb Need a name for Sylvia's new brother!

    Hello Namers!!

    I am in desperate need of help to find a name for our boy. We already have a daughter named Sylvia (she'll be 4 when the baby is born).

    We have rules, which makes things difficult between my husband and I...
    -Traditional/real name; no weird spellings
    -Not too popular (<200 on the SS list, preferably)
    -Gender specific / masculine (my name is Toni and I've always hated having a "boy's name")
    -Cannot end in the "-ee" sound. Our last name rhymes with "Journey" and we find it too sing-songy
    -Positive or at least neutral meaning
    -No obvious surnames or place names

    Names that have already been considered, but have been discarded (for some reason or another) are:
    Arthur, Calvin, Desmond, Malcolm, Linus, Philip, Jerome, Simon, Theodore, Douglas, Francis, Milo, Rufus, Roman, Jasper, Jonas, Leo, Stuart, Lewis, Victor, Quentin, Frederick, Albert, Edmund, Dominick, Benedict

    We've been working on this since we found out I was pregnant. I want to find the name!! Help please!!

    I love Sylvia! Here are a few names based on the ones you've vetoed:
    Augustus
    Samuel
    Cornelius
    Sebastian
    Cecil
    Miles
    Franz
    Julian
    Elliot
    Dexter

    Hope that helps!

    I tried to come up with suggestions not yet listed.

    Vincent= Another V to complement Sylvia, but is it too similar to Victor which you've nixed?
    Ezra= hard consonant sound to match the V in Sylvia
    Hugo= I just like the name
    Rex=same as Ezra, but maybe too short? It needs the right middle name.
    Fabian=similar flow as Sylvia
    Evander= 3 syllables and a V.
