Good friends stole our boy name. Help!

    Hi Berries,

Our dear friends had a baby a few days ago and named him Theodore. It is my absolute favorite boy name and the only one that I really loved as a brother for our first-born Susanna. Now we can't use it and I am super bummed. I'm happy for them, but this really stinks...

None of my other boy names seem to measure up to the strength of Theodore with the sweetness of Theo as a nickname. Here are some that we are considering, but I'm not sure any is quite right. Help!!!

    Elliot
    Julian
    Wesley
    Cormac
    Roscoe
    Milo
    Wallace
    Orson
    Cole
    Hugo

Names I like but are BAD with our consonant heavy surname that starts with "s" and is two syllables, ends in "er".

    Louis
    Jasper

Hmmm. I'm a fan of a lot of vintage names. Well, here's some suggestions.

    Quinnton (or Quinn)
    Zachary
    Ashton
    August
    Parker
    Milo
    Calvin
    Edwin
    Frederick
    Emmett
    Silas

If you keep looking, I'm sure you'll find a perfect match!

    Are you expecting?
Would the two Theo's be close in age?
How far away will they live?

Maybe the fact that your friend 'took' the name isn't as big of a deal as it seems now?

I do love Wallace, because then Wally can be a nickname, and I find that absolutely adorable! A name that's someone similar to Theodore, just a bit more out there, is Thaddeus, the old Greek hero. Tad for a nickname is cute, too! Reuben doesn't offer any nicknames, but I feel it fits right in with your list of semi-old school, sweet, warm names. Names that you might enjoy are:
    Charles (I've always loved Charlie!)
    Thaddeus
    Reuben
    Leo
Gabriel (you could call him Gabe, which is cute!)
    William (endless nickname possibilities!)
Rasmussen (I know one who goes by Raz- this name isn't exactly the warm, kind names like on your list, but it's interesting and quirky!)
    Felix
David or Davis with the nickname of Davey, which is one of my all-time favorites!
    Henry
    Harvey
    Chace
    Declan
    Bruce
Dexter (you could call him Dex, which I think is adorable)
    Oz
    Elias
    Toby
    Erich
