Alaska is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. It sounds very feminine to my ear and does have all the AL- nicknames built right in.

Jude, however, ruins it. Jude is strictly male to me, so I can't get by a little girl being named the unisex-but-so-male-heavy name Alaska Jude. I like pp suggestion of Alaska Jane or Alaska Jade if you want something similar to Jude.

    Other "J" middles:
    Alaska Joy
    Alaska Juliet
    Alaska Joyce
    Alaska Juniper

If you decide not to go with the nn "AJ" (which to me is very masculine anyways), I think there are a lot of great one-syllable options that sound beautiful with Alaska. Alaska Paige, Alaska Pearl, Alaska Rose, Alaska Mae/Maeve, etc. to list some. Good luck!

Wow, I'm surprised no one's mentioned the book "Looking For Alaska" by John Green. It's one of my favorite books, so that's where my mind goes. There's a character named Alaska, so if you're a John Green fan, I like the connection, although I personally wouldn't love a little girl of mine to have Alaska Young as her namesake. That said, I think the name is nice, and I like June, Jane, and Juliet with it.

I think Alaska is rather pretty. I live in Alaska, so I'd never use it though. There's also Alyeska, which is where Alaska comes from.

All I think of is pageant Diva, almost on every show of Toddlers in Tiaras there is a girl named Alaska.

Alaska is unique and pretty! I like it. I could never use it because I can't get "i'll ask ya" out of my head. But I like it for someone else, I really do. Juliet is one of my favorites. Alaska Juliet gets my vote!
