I voted for Lionel, it's one of my favorites and on my list. If it sounds better w/ your ln I would use it w/ Leo as the nn.

Elliot has lost a lot of it's glamour for me, as I know a number of young Elliots. Moreover, I can see this name becoming quite unisex in the future... so it's a matter of whether or not that would bother you...

I love Leo and know a few boys with this name under 5. My husbands middle name is Leonard, and we had tossed around using Leo as a mn to honor him (and did use Leona to do just that) and sometimes I wish I would have just used Leonard with the nn Leo for one of our boys since its such a cool name. (And Leonard is DH's grandfathers name too)

Lionel with the nn Leo seems like a stretch, but it could work. I do like Leonardo and Leon. Leo *can* stand alone and often times does, but I prefer longer names that can be shortened.
