Thread: Babies Due January-March 2014

Hi ladies! I survived the wedding weekend! It was unbelievably long. I can't even believe how many things Bridezilla had planned but didn't arrange for anyone to actually DO. I was running late all week and it was just crazy. I ironed until 3 am before the wedding on my own family's things (all four kids plus hubby plus myself, all in the wedding), and then got up at 7, went to the church, and found that NONE of the bridesmaids had ironed their dresses, and a couple of the guys their shirts. So I ironed until probably 1:30.
One of the bridesmaid's dresses came in the wrong shade of red -- she ordered the right thing and it was marked as the right color, but it was NOT, and she could 't have known because of course she was the girl from the other side of the country. They ordered ANOTHER dress for her off Amazon after she got here and I kid you not, that thing arrived at 2:00 for a 4:00 wedding. More ironing. Adding in the modesty pieces. We were literally sewing her into that dress.
The photos were supposed to be completely done before the wedding but of course that went out the window. The photographer was sending messengers back to tell us they really needed to do a family picture, and here we are sewing our cousin into a dress. Of course, I'd been ironing all day so I had my hair and makeup done but no dress; another sister WAS the stylist (she's a beautician) so she was trying to get ready too, and nobody noticed my little 2-year-old niece until she had painted her entire face with somebody's mascara. So then we were cleaning that up and finally got out for a few pictures.
The ceremony went smoothly and was very pretty, so that was great. She was gorgeous and both of them were crying the whole time, LOL. I was too relieved that they are FINALLY getting hitched to cry, heehee. Four years of drama is plenty for me, thankyouverymuch.
The reception was pretty, but again nobody was appointed to actually DO all the things they wanted done so the best man got pressed into service as MC with me or Mom deciding "hey, good time to do the bouquet toss" and telling him to announce it and telling the newlyweds what they were doing next. :-P
So when they were leaving, everyone went outside and they had these paper lanterns to light and fly away, like in the movie "Tangled." It was really pretty, and then they left. We went to go back inside the church only to find that it was locked down under fire alarm! It was determined that a supporting furnace system, not even in rooms we were using, had kicked on for the first time in the season and blew out dust or something, which triggered the fire alarm. A fire truck, cop car, I mean the works showed up and everyone was left standing there in the freezing cold until they gave us the all-clear. It was hilarious.
Here's an Instagram photo from one of the other bridesmaids. Pretty unbelievable.
I'm ready to sleep for about a week but my big annual event is on Saturday. I'm loafing around today but tomorrow I really must put my nose to the grindstone and finish preparations. After that...I sleep for about five days. I'm swearing off fall weddings. This is insane. A friend got married the week after this event last year, and my sister scheduled for the week before this year. Nooooooooo more.
I'm ever so sorry to see all the crummy things you ladies have going! Poor Mr. Badger, what a rotten birthday week. I wouldn't worry about tetanus, unless the dog has it you're not going to get that -- and it's extremely unlikely for the dog to have it, the dog would be dead, like, this week if he had it! How long is the pelvic rest sentence?? ugh ugh ugh. I was lol'ing over the baby squeezing the bladder. Mine likes to punch me in the bladder but it's not terrible. Sorry about the busted foot too Cora, what a pain! Before, I've had BH contrax starting around 6 months, so 24 weeks? Maybe even 22 weeks? I usually get them pretty early and pretty regular through to the end. One of my sisters gets them pretty bad and our mom did too, so it runs in the family. Yech, not looking forward to getting those again. My sympathy to any of you who inherited a tendency to have BH.She's finally here!

I had no idea until recently that you could get BH contractions so early... Not even in the third trimester! Very interesting. I get so many random pains now, I'm not sure i would immediately identify anything as a BH contraction! Good to be on the lookout for though.
Tomorrow is the big day! 20 wk ultrasound! I am so very excited. My mom is flying in on Friday, and we are having a few people over for a gender surprise dinner. So I am really nervous about baby not cooperating! Lets hope he/she isn't being too modest tomorrow morning!!!

Sara, I am lucky and don't get sick from flying. I do however get pretty bad anxiety on boats (I have a fear of drowning, definitely out of proportion to the actual risk) which is not so lucky when I live on a tiny island. The wedding sounds like madness. Think you deserve to put your feet up after all that (and a medal)
TK - we're going home at the end of Dec and I'm not due til March 21st (though my first came 3 weeks early) so will probably stay a while after that too. Considering moving back permanently but our plans are still up in the air for now I adore the nickname Mars, and Martin is very cute too!
Cora, sorry to hear about your ankle Hope it's feeling better soon. I love August Henry from your names! I tried to warm up DH to August but he only likes Augustus, and I'm not so keen on that.
Ottilie - I must have missed a post, you're getting a nanny? You can have mine, she is more work than my child To be honest though nannying is not really a 'thing' here in the Maldives as most women are housewives. So it was pretty slim pickings when we hired her.
Well, Mila kicked me pretty hard (accidentally, she was rolling over on the bed) in the belly today and now I'm sore and trying not to stress about it. Days like today I wish I had access to healthcare so I could just go in and make sure everything is ok.Mother to miss Mila Arden and her brand new brother, Cato Bennett

@greci - I came by this when I was surfing (coffee break!) and thought you might be interested in it for your boys' ocean-theme nursery: http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/prod...tegoryId=32006
@babylove14 - Can't wait to hear your news! Did your little one cooperate?
@milasmama - Oh no! Try not to worry. Lots of little guys in utero get kicked or sat on or fallen on by their older siblings and come out just fine! It's hard not to worry about it though. Get some rest. She's finally here!
