Peggy but not Margaret
I'm brainstorming on possible ways to honor a Peggy Jean. All I can think of is Pegeen and Jeanette -- unfortunately ALL of the Margaret variations that start with Mar- are out due to a Marge that ruined the name entirely for my husband.
Not an announcement, just collecting ideas for my list. My girls list is very, very sad indeed!
Throw any ideas at me, however outlandish or mainstream!

Does Marigold or Magnolia work as a sort-of Margaret variation that might not conjure Marge for your hub? I think cause they're nature names they give you a solid image of flowers instead of reminding you of Maggies or Marys you know. At least that's how they hit me. And I really love both!
Peggy= Megan, Paige, Aggie names
Jean= June, Joan, Jane
Agnes Jane nn Aggie Jean feels very vintage in a modern way to me.
Magnolia Jean is adorable!

I seriously love both Magnolia and Marigold. Hubs doesn't like Maggie but he does like Meg; the only way I've ever even swindled Magnolia into consideration is by offering nn Meg. I don't know what he would say to Marigold. I've never though to try it out on him, but I think I will. I'm not sure Peggy would think Marigold was very connected to her name though (but I do LIKE Marigold, which is more than I can say about most girl names, haha!).
I like Meg, and Meg does make sense in place of Peg. Peggy used to go by Peg way back when. Good thought. Megan is a little too 1980s for me, but maybe we could think through some names that could use Meg as a nn. That might be kind of cute, come to think of it.
Jane is a good idea too; Jean and Jane are definitely related etymologically. There is already a Joan on that side of the family and that would be awkward.
Good ideas, thanks! I'm up for other suggestions too!

Pelagia is pretty cool, and I like the "similar sounds" concept, though Pelagia is maybe a bit too much like a My Little Pony name.
I could TOTALLY go for Poppy but wouldn't you know, Peggy just named her new dog Poppy. I guess she would have liked it, bahaha!
Penny...ahh, good idea! I wouldn't have thought of that approach. Hubby would like that.
I really like Pansy but I'm not sure if it's actually wearable, because of the whole "being a pansy" thing. Bleh.
AHH! Jehanne looks beautiful. I'm not up on my Medieval French though so I have to confess to being rather clueless on pronunciation.
