BEL-uh gal, and I prefer CLAR-uh. I predict CLAIR-uh is all we'd ever hear in the US, though. This is why I won't ever be using Clara...or, as it turns out, Arabella. I had no idea so many people pronounced the first syllable like "air." My favorite thing about Arabella has always been the Ara part.----

I was thinking about Arabella yesterday and I realised that part of the reason I say 'ara' with a short 'a' (other than the fact that everyone else here does) is because of the word Arab. That starts with exactly the same 'ara' sound that Arabella does and you can't say Arab as 'ahr-ab' or 'air-ab'.~Boys~
