    Gem/jem

Hi berries, I love the name jem/gem for a girl but don't love Gemma or jemima. Do you have any suggestions for longer names that could be shortened to jem/gem? What do you think of jem/gem on its own. The nameberry description for jem is something like "insubstantial"! Penny for your thoughts

I think Gem is lovely for a girl though I do prefer it as a nickname rather than a full name. It is, however, the middle name of my youngest niece. Jem is a handsome nickname for a boy. I prefer the Gem spelling for a girl unless, of course Jemma is spelled this way or if the full name is Jemima.

Gemini and Germaine are the ones I can think of. You could also take any soft G names and pair it with an Em middle name.

Gillian Emma, Genevieve Emily, Georgia Emmaline
I like simple yet versatile names that work well for the athlete, the comic, the genius, and the judge.

I was going to suggest Gemini! Also my SO loves Gemelle but it's actually Italian word for twins. I have heard of a woman named Gemstone but, honestly, it's too much.
Gem on its own is kinda strange though.

I knew a girl in high school named Jemica. She went by both Jem and Jemma. Loved her name!
