Though I prefer Hazel over Ruby, I definitely like Ruby Alice. It's got a gorgeous little charm. (Is Ruby Hazel an option?)

So it does seem like some of the preference for Ruby is coming from the middle name choice. We'd really love to use Alice since its my grandmother's name and she turns 100 this year... I do hear the repetitive sounds in Hazel and Alice though. I guess my concern is just letting that second name dictate the first (which ultimately will be used much more). I love Ruby, but have gotten such mixed feedback... I'm sure people will have issues with Hazel too though- there's always someone who isn't a fan

    Thanks everyone!

I vastly prefer Hazel, partly because little Rubies are everywhere these days. (At least in my urban big city neighbourhood) I do kind of trip over Hazel Alice, like it comes out Hazel Lalice

Both are very nice names I'm pleased to see revived.

    Girl: Lulu, Eden
    Boy: Leo, Wallace, Grady

Mommy to one sweet little boy who I loved naming Lennox Andrew Michael (Lex for short)

This is a hard one! I used to love the name Ruby, but have gone off it lately- though I think that might be because it's very popular where I live. On the other hand, Hazel is a new favourite of mine and if I had to pick I would go with Hazel. I also love that it has the same amount of letters as the rest of your family!

I do agree with previous posters that Ruby Alice flows better than Hazel Alice, but I don't think that should define your ultimate choice- middle names are so rarely used, especially said outloud.

    Best of luck!

I prefer Hazel individually, but Ruby Alice out of the combos.
