Hmm, as it turns out, you don't like the name Adelaide, because it's pronounced a-duh-laid. Sorry

Better to find a name you like in its true pronunciation than try to force Adelaide to fit an inaccurate pronunciation. It will just be more work for the kid, who is the one wearing the name their whole life (not you).

Funny. I was just checking forvo and the pronunciation for Adelaide was really different from Australia to the US... I'm not an English native speaker so I can't really understand how you pronounce, but check it out: http://pt.forvo.com/word/adelaide/#en

I had never herad of Forvo! Thank you very much, I found the French pronunciation on there (http://www.forvo.com/word/ad%c3%a9la%c3%afde/)
I think I will just have to use the accents shown. Yellow, I do like the name Adelaide with the English pronunciation very much. I just prefer the French way- my family is French, and they also pronounce it this way in Puerto Rico, which is where my husband is from. I was just hoping to get some different ideas for spelling. Again, thanks everyone for the input!
