Sean looks more "correct" to me, but I have known one or two Shawns (I see Shawn more often on females, actually).

I think the W looks kind of out of place, like someone's spelling out the pronunciation. I've also seen Shaun, which looks more aesthetically pleasing to me than Shawn, but still seems a bit 'made up'.

    I like Sean or Shaun.

I think Shaun looks fuller to me, but Sean has the history.

I know 3 people who's name is spelt Shaun, 1 spelt Sean and 1 spelt Shawn. So for me Shaun feels more correct.

I prefer Shawn, I remember seeing Sean for the first time in Harry Potter and I ALWAYS pronounced it as Seen, so to this day when I see Sean, and I can't help but say Seen and not Shawn.

Sean is Irish. Shawn and Shaun are modern phonetic inventions of the name from the 1970-80's. I like Sean the best (I'm thinking of the former James Bond Sean Connery now ).
    All the best,
