    Ivory

What do you think of the name Ivory?

We've discussed it generally as a middle name and I was hoping to get your all's opinions.

    Thanks!

It's an alright name. It makes me think of elephant tusks and ivory statues. I think the main issue is that it isn't my style.

I wondered about the connection to elephant, hippos, walruses, etc.

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's not really my style either. It comes across as a bit...pretentious, I guess? I know it's a shade of white/elephant tusk material, but it kind of feels like an unnecessary twist on Ivy and Avery.

It actually was a bit of an accidental twist on the two.

I like both Avery and Ivy. I couldn't see using Avery for a girl and Ivy tends to remind me of hospitals and IV's rather than the plant. It then occurred to me that Ivory sounded very much like Avery and had the beginning sound of Ivy.

I'm surprised you thought it came off as a bit pretentious. I thought it sounded more homey.

    Thank you!
