    I think it's fine! I know a few people who gave their children their own name, so why can't you give your child a similar name?

    My name is Diana and I personally wouldn't do it, but then again I don't like the name Dani.

    I definitely wouldn't use the nickname Dee because my name is shortened to that as well as Di from time to time. It would depend on what your own nicknames are, if you have any that is....

    I think it would work better in the middle name spot, but that's just me.
