How about Lyra? It's unique but not weird and also has a certain classic feel to it. I love it. Also it has beautiful associations with music and the stars.

As a Lyra, I have a cat named Lulu and honestly? I'd never love to be nicknamed Lulu, by anyone! I have the nn Ly or Lyly, which is - of course sweet - but little girlish. I'd settle for Laurel and then shorten to Lulu.

Lulu was on our long list for girls. In Arabic it is a full word name that means pearls. The singular pearl, Lulua is also a name and very pretty. It's pronounced LOO-loo-uh, just like Lulu, but with an A on the end.
