Since we have a decent book thread going... what about movies?
Since the book recommendation thread has been so much fun to keep up with, shall we start a movie recommendation thread too?

...I also can't say enough good things about The Emperor's Club and Take the Lead. Very wholesome and inspiring movies. Oh! And the first Karate Kid!

I think the recent Lincoln film was fantastic. My husband and I saw it twice. Daniel Day-Lewis' acting for the role of Abraham Lincoln was absolutely phenomenal. He did an incredible job of recreating Lincoln based on research, even using a tone of voice and walking with a specific gait that were described in correspondence between Lincoln's friends and relatives.
And of course I will always promote the Narnia films for family viewing, particularly The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It has an eerily beautiful soundtrack--I walked down the aisle to one of the scores--and the setting is just enchanting.

Erm, I'm not a huge movie person, but lately, my two favorites are Olympus Has Fallen and the new Star Trek movie. Over the years, I've loved:
While You Were Sleeping (still probably my favorite)
A Cinderella Story
The Narnia movies
Pretty much any Jane Austen novel.
Two Weeks Notice
The Sound of Music (gah, I watched this religiously as a child!)
The Importance of Being Earnest
The Scarlet Pimpernel
The Hunger Games (I admit it! I'm such a dork. :/)
The Avengers (And Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk, and Thor, and Captain America... guilty!)
Battle: Los Angeles
Spiderman (the new one, with Andrew Garfield!)
All the President's Men (I was a writing major, and a history buff--what do you expect? )
Knight and Day
The Back-Up Plan
Usually I love the super-ooy-gooey romantic movies, but lately I've been in an action sort of mood.
ETA: I don't know how I missed Sherlock Holmes (seriously! They need to make a third one!), Ever After, Ella Enchanted... I'll probably edit again to add. Many times.
