    Pleasant Female Names?

    I notice that many names which give me a feeling of contentment and rightness are called by nameberry "pleasant".

    The older I get, the less I value drama and the more I value pleasantness.

    Pleasant activities like reading, gardening, walking, birdwatching.

    Pleasant books and movies and foods.

    And pleasant names.

    For me what makes a name pleasant is hard to pinpoint, but I have noticed 5 traits they often share:

    * no or low drama
    * a feeling of reasonableness
    * a calm quality
    * spelled right, for the right gender (not Stanley for a girl, say, or worse, Stanleigh)
    *a je ne sais quoi, maybe pretty rather than beautiful

    A Laura Linney of names rather than a Sophia Loren of names...

    Does anyone else out there particularly enjoy pleasant names and if so, what are your Top Ten of the Moment?

    Here are mine:

    1. June
    2. Hazel
    3. Shirley
    4. Laurel
    5. Leslie (is it OK to like your own name?)
    6. Verity
    7. Polly
    8. Nancy
    9. Bess
    10. Ianthe

    Oops, I forgot Comfort, Meadow, Afternoon, Felicity, and even the word Pleasant!

    Faye too.
