If I had your situation and had to honor, I'd do something like this:

Cancer is a Zodiac sign, now this might seem morbid, however I like the idea.
The sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so a name relating to the Moon or the ocean since it also controls the tide.

Selena is my favourite one from this.

Now, some may not like the idea of it, but I think it's a decent tie.
    Laurel - 2O - Aries - Slytherin - University of Toronto

My favorite site for this is Baby Name Scrambler: http://www.babynamescramble.com/names/babynames.cgi
You put in two names and it scrambles them up into a name.

Some suggestions based on the scrambler:
    Adriana
    Diana
    Nadia
    Sarah
    Alessandra
    Ariana
    Elaina
    Eliana
    Lydia

Yes, I think it's a lovely gesture to name children after family members. Since both mothers' names start with S, I think you could really pick any S name to honor them. I like the idea of Serafina too. What don't you like about it? I like the suggestion of Alessandra-- a very pretty name.

    Some other possibilities:

    Adalyn Sarah
    Aliseanne
    Annabel Cherise
Anastasia (this one has a lot of similar letters and means resurrection)
Astrid (some similar letters and means star)
    Cassandra Lynn
    Emmalyn Sarah
    Esther Leanne
    Estelle/Estella
    Laurie Sarah
    Liana Sue
    Linnea Star
    Lydia Solace
    Melisande Cheri
    Sally Ann
    Sandrine Pearl
    Stella
    Sharon
    Susan
    Susannah Lynn
    Suzanne
    Zara Leonie

I love the idea of using a name that honors, and I totally understand your dilemma. Here some ideas:

    Cassandra nn Cassie
    Marilyn
    Susannah

Sabrina (Another S name which contains the letters a,r, and n which are in a lot the names you want to honor)

    Other names that begin S
    Sapphira
    Sarah
    Sarai
    Savannah
Serena (close to Serafina which you love, but a little simpler)

I like most of the names you already have. Both Charlotte and Ava are popular here in the US.

Finally I am including a list of names that variants of the name Ann. There's a lot to pick from.

Here some more names to honor Ann.

I apologize if this is a redundant. I was working on another post but nameberry lost it.

    Good Luck!
