Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~George Eliot

I still think Orchid Aurora is stunning by the way! When I think of Orchid I think of the beautiful flowers. I wouldn't worry about any of that other stuff (I don't think a lot of people in the "real world" would even think of any of that stuff). If that's the name that you and your partner end up loving then you shouldn't let anyone talk you out of it. There is always going to be people who don't agree when making an adventurous name choice!

Orchids are beautiful flowers, but I don't think Orchid makes a nice name. It's too harsh. What would a nn for Orchid be? Orc? That's an ugly mythological creature. ugh
My husband has a niece named Ocean Aurora.

Ocean Aurora is really pretty too!

If a nickname is really that big of an issue you could always use Ora/Aura (Orchid + Aurora), Ro, or Rory. There's an "or" sound in both names, and a "ror" sound in Aurora. You could even use Richi/Richie, Dora, Chi, or Cho (butterfly).
