In the first book I wrote, there's a character called Derora Augustine Denali (known as Derry) who pretends to be a Mary Sue because she wants to be the best at something and everything else she's tried, someone has beaten her to it. She figures no one would ever want to be a stereotype so that's what she'll be best at.

There's also many Mary-Sue surnames such as Rose, Darling, Hart, Grace, Love, Kelly, etc.; names that sound distinctly feminine. Most realistic Mary-Sue's have those sort of names.

“I read books when I was a kid, lots of books. Books always seemed like magic to me. They took you to the most amazing places. When I got older, I realized I couldn't find books that took me to all the places I wanted to go. To go to those places, I had to write some books myself.”
