    September Sister

We are expecting a babe in early September. I received some really great suggestions on an earlier post. Now I have a more refined list.

A little background: We have two daughters, Cora Adelaide and Vesper Irene. We didn't plan on it, but nicknames have become integral to our family dynamic. C often goes by Belle at home, short for Corabelle, and V goes by Pip or Pippa. She is just such a Pip! Each of the girls names includes one Saint (Adelaide, Irene), at least one strong literary reference (Cora, Last of the Mohicans; Vesper, Casino Royale; Irene, Sherlock Holmes) and one Greek/Roman goddess reference (Cora, Irene).

We are looking for a name that suits a little sister. We would like one name to reference a Saint, Roman or Orthodox. We like the goddess theme we have going and would like to continue it if we can; Other Greek/Roman mythological names and perhaps other mythology are game. If we can find a literary reference, too, well that would just be gravy. Nickname potential is helpful, but I know these things tend to evolve organically.

    Whew!

We like vintage-y names and are drawn to those of English/German, Greek, Latin, Welsh and Scandinavian origin.

    Here's our short list:

Tove/Tovia - prn Tov/Tovah or Tovi-ya; Scandinavian origin includes a Thor reference. We love the sound and meaning of this name.

Ariadne - Cretin goddess of fertility, perfect for this surprise babe? NN potential like none other. Saint.

    Liv

    Neve

Athena/Thea - doesn't get much more goddess than Athena. St. Thea.

    Aurelia- Saint.

Gwyneth - My favorite, Papa Owlett not so convinced. NN Gwen or Winnie. St Gwen.

    Other names under consideration:
Josephine nn Joss, or Posey - Satints Josephine and Joseph
    Felicity nn Flick - Saint
Willa (Possibility of Wilhelmina, honors an important family member). More St Williams than you can shake a stick at.
    Sigrid
Petra - Bl Petra, Saint Peter
    Pilar - Marian title

We also like Thisbe, Hero and Blythe for their literary connections. Maybe have mn potential?

Thoughts? Considerations? Other suggestions? Do any "match" particularly well?

And a big thank you to the Berries who helped me start this list.

Any thoughts? My list is kind of scattered. Cora is a fairly flexible name, but I don't want her to get left out with another "heavy" name like Vesper. Many of my choices include "vee" -- is that too much with Vesper?

I think Diana should be a real contender. She was a saint and a greek goddess. She is also the best friend of Anne of Green Gables.
    Wanting to be pregnant.

Thanks ninanoo! Diana and Minerva should be prefect, on all accounts, but we just don't like them enough for first names. Diana has definite mn potential though! Thanks!

Gwyneth, Felicity, and Petra go so well with your other names! The only suggestions I have are Minerva (nickname Minnie?) and Iris. I love all the middle name ideas you have, especially Blythe!
    Felicity ~ Calista ~ Claudia ~ Beatrice "Betty" ~ Carlotta ~ Millie ~ Cora ~ Audrey ~ Violet

    Calvin ~ Jude ~ Miles ~ Oliver ~ Roscoe ~ Benjamin ~ Leo ~ Adrian ~ Isaac ~ Colin
